A wedding couple kissing on the beach and the bride holds flowers in her wedding dress

Another question after color I’ll ask brides seeking me for their wedding flowers is what is the theme or type of wedding? This says a lot also on the look and feel of everything we choose for the decor beyond flowers. If it is black tie, then certain palettes go better than others. Casual beach? Sand, peach and baby blue are stunning palettes. The idea of colors and theme go hand in hand and help me as your florist and wedding designer to create the ambiance of your dreams.

Here are some popular themes for a wedding and the colors that go well within the wedding surroundings:

  • Classic: This would be considered elegant and navy blue and gold are classic combinations for a classic wedding. A deep rust or gold and muted green colors for a fall and for a winter wedding add to these a deep red. A classic wedding in the summer are blush pinks, white and soft peaches

  • Vintage: think colors like browns and teal with a gold accent. Muted and faded hues of dusty rose, faded melon, and nature inspired colors.

  • Tropical: Choose vivid, warm colors like warm yellow, bright coral, and peach with a pop of turquoise. And also teal, purple, green, and orange look gorgeous for a tropical wedding.Tropical flowers are abundant in choice and all go well with one another.

  • Boho Chic: These are warm earthy colors and jewel tones such as deep yellow, terracotta, sage, faded violet, emerald green.

  • Nautical: for a boathouse or yacht club wedding, you can never go wrong with coral, fuchsia, and navy blue. Or try the blue and white combination.

  • Romantic Old World Charm in a Chateau: Classic white, cream, linen, champagne and gold even some black, You might like faded blush.

  • Garden Wedding: Surrounded by the natural world in a garden where color abounds creates choices for your palette. The just picked bouquet in pinks, lavender and greens with a touch of yellow in summer daisies creates a stunning palette for this theme.

  • Beachy: Imagine the sound of the waves with the sea foam at your feet. This wedding theme embraces the peachy tones with sand and beige and a touch of blue and a pop of a jewel tone.

Again, go with your tastes and desires. You really can’t choose wrong. Once all the accessories of a wedding from the linens to the placecards are in place, the entire ambiance is pulled together and color is just the icing on your wedding cake!
