Your Dream Wedding in France
Don’t have to let the residency requirements stand in the way of having your dream wedding in France. Many couples opt to do the legal bit in their home country and then have a symbolic ceremony or civil ceremony.
Start thinking at least a year in advance. France is a popular destination for weddings!
As soon as you know your wedding date, book the photographer, venue and florist.
Start a personal website on one of the popular wedding sites that shares your plans, venue and your family and friends can begin to visualize the day and dream along with you.
Try to gather all your guests in the hotel bar or restaurant to greet and explain any details. It is very disorienting to have traveled a long distance, not speak the language and yet want to participate. Let your family and friends know about tours and things to do while you finalize your wedding details.
The same could be said for a post wedding gathering. Why not a Bon Voyage party?
There is more to France than Paris! If your are budget conscious, there are many beautiful venues and locations less expensive and in other parts of France. Do your research or email me so that I can suggest some ideas. France’s train system can be your mode of transport for your guests so this should limit your location!
A midweek wedding is also less expensive and probably a lot cheaper with airline tickets and whatnot. Keep in mind that most things are closed Sundays and Mondays and museums are closed Tuesdays. Paris may be an exception to these closures but for the most part, plan on not having everything available 24/7.
Once you know your date and venue, start planning with your wedding florist. If the bride can not visit the venue in advance, I often go to the venue taking photos and plan the decor and overall flower possibilities keeping the season and budget in mind.
As an English speaking resident of France, having your wedding or reception here is easier. That’s why I focus on brides wanting their destination wedding to be here since I love France and would love to help you experience it too!
