Speaking the other day with a future bride, I asked her how did she come to the conclusion to have her destination wedding in France. Her answer makes so much sense and here is what she explained.
Starting to plan their wedding, going over their budget and seeing the guest list, the cost was enormous! Sure, they’re family and friends but for one day, all these people whom may or may not have a chance to really visit with, is this enjoyable let alone affordable? Then there is the food, drink and venue to host the family and friends for one day. Asking themselves do the guests really enjoy themselves? Again, all this for one day? So, reflecting on these questions, the couple’s conclusion was no. A one day wedding just seemed astronomical for the amount of time and overwhelming in the planning. Could a destination wedding be cheaper and less complicated? Their conclusion was yes!
A destination such as France has its costs but the value out ways the investment. “Our closest family and friends would have an experience, not just a day”. So, yes, the guest list is smaller but the day is intimate against a backdrop of a chateau and a trip in itself to experience; for all. Having gotten engaged in Paris, concluding with the wedding in France seemed the perfect choice. And then she listed what she wanted her wedding to be like:

Fun for everyone
Create lasting memories
Activities beyond the wedding i.e. Sight seeing, restaurants, immersive culture and history.
Choosing a venue with a chateau gives not only the immersive, beautiful ambiance for a wedding but family and friends also share this location and take away so much more than just a wedding day.
Reducing the guest list, investing in travel and creating a trip vibe is no more expensive, even less, than one day grand wedding. It really is affordable and the chateau they chose can host all their guests so dinners and activities are easily planned. A win win situation.
