Wedding in France with Family & Friends
A couple can be overwhelmed by choices for flowers and limited by their budget. With all the visuals online between Pinterest and Instagram, it is hard to make wedding plan decisions.
One of the things that Joseph and Sarah did was decide what their priority was with respect to decor. And they chose their wedding ceremony as the most important for flowers and decoration. St. Liziers cathedral, as many (okay mostly all) churches in France can be, was darker and all stone. They wanted to make it look like a wedding. And wedding means flowers. So, my priority was creating a magical ambiance that surrounded them, their family, and friends.
First thing Sarah wanted was it to look like a wedding and how best to do this but with the entrance for the bride. I placed 72 glass cylinders with fairy lights to illuminate the path, surrounded by a thick carpet of white rose petals. Their nuptial chairs I decorated with a bouquet and ribbon on the back of these seats. There had to be a rose petal toss at the end, and due to benches being not mean but for angling bouquets or cones, I created Lacey planter pots that had a goose neck with which to suspend 4-5 paper doily cones of white petals for each guest. Large vases of loose airy flowers sat on two pedestal tables as the guests entered.
Sarah and Joe had some wonderful, caring friends and this just warmed my heart. Surrounded by all this love, you couldn’t help but feel hopeful and joyous with them. I was so happy to have the honor to be their wedding florist here in France!
