French Class!
Here are some basic wedding vocabulary in French. If you’re working with me, you don’t need to know French but I thought it would be fun just to share some French words relevant to your wedding in France on my blog:)
La mariée-Bride
Le marié-Groom (make sure the ‘é’ is on there otherwise he’s already a husband!
Un mariage -A wedding
Le repas de noce-wedding ceremony and meal
Un faire part-Wedding invite
La reception- Did you know that all ‘tion’ words in English come from the French and the same definition?
La liste de mariage-registry
La mairie-town hall
L’égise-church (before a church ceremony you must get married in the town’s mayor office
Je t’aime-Do I really need to translate this one?
La lune de miel-Honeymoon
Les enfants d’honneur-Flower girls and ring boys
Les demoiselles-bridesmaids but in France they tend to be girls
Le témoine-witness
Le vin d’honneur-wedding apéritif
La salle des fêtes-reception venue
Un croquembouche-tiered puff choux pastries with cream inside glued together with a sugar syrup.
