Who Throws Away Wedding Photos?

Old wedding photo of a couple about to cut their cake.

I’m a big collector of a lot of things-not a hoarder I should add (although others may think I’m on this downward spiral) but I love vintage objects from another time. I think they vibrate with souls that have passed before. One of these collections are vintage wedding paraphernalia such as cake toppers, wedding paper dolls and a lot of photos of people standing for their formal wedding photos but some cutting a cake or the bride with others informally. I will examine the photo for other little clues of that moment to help me imagine the day. Where are they now? Are they still alive? Did they have a happy life like the photo foreshadows? And why is this photo not with the descendants of this couple and instead in my collection box?

Who throws away photos? Of course I’m off topic here but seriously who lets family memories go to a garage sale or antique shop?

I digress…As a photographer myself since I was a preteen, my photos are in the 10s of thousands and once the camera phone came along I’ve 5 times that now! What phone? It’s all about the quality of the camera.

Despite the fashion changing, the flower bouquet’s evolution and probably the budgets one thing remains the same-the wedding. We still have the same idea of a wedding ceremony and celebration with family and friends, cake, and a photographer-albeit with advanced technology who preserves the day for the future.

And you will not see a wedding without flowers. Flowers and bride, flowers and attendants, flowers are like peanut butter and jelly. Flowers make the wedding.

But what does that mean? Flowers are your palette, flowers create the environment and compliment it, flowers create romance and ambiance. Flowers are gifts to your guests and flowers are everyone’s favorite things. Who doesn’t like flowers?

The flowers for most weddings will be long gone after the honeymoon but they will be forever in your wedding photos, preserved for your future descendants to admire. Or if the unfortunate happens and your wedding photos end up on EBay, there will be someone someday who will take them and continue to honor your wedding day. And your essence like the floral essences will continue to live on.

Let’s talk about your flowers.
