Wedding flowers with blue delphinium in paris france in France

Something old, Something new, something borrowed, something blue…We’ve all heard this poem as a wedding is planned and the bride is selecting her dress and accessories. But does a French bride follow this tradition?

This Anglo-Saxon tradition made its way to France from England at the end of the 19th century. Historically this was never a French tradition but the global influence and social media have invariably crossed over borders and you may see this custom here in France. So if you’re planning a wedding here in France, go ahead and add your blue!

Recently I had a future couple ask about putting some blue flowers in the wedding decorations. I love blue flowers like delphinium, cornflowers or love-in-the-mist which look phenomenal in wedding flowers.

I’ve put together some inspiration here for any bride looking to include ‘something blue’ in his/her bouquet.
