10 Pieces of Advice From Former Brides for Couples Planning Their Wedding in France

I have begun asking my former wedding couples questions about their experience not only with me but also if they had any piece of advise to share with future wedding couples who are thinking of having their wedding in France. Here are 10 that I’ve gathered so far.

  1. “Give yourself more time to plan for a destination wedding than you would a wedding near home or in the states. Also be open to last minute and unexpected changes. For example I was told the day of the wedding that the DJ I had planned canceled and a new DJ was coming, there was rain in the forecast (luckily only in the morning!) and we had guests cancel their trips days before their flights. Just know there are things that happen that you can't control but it won't change the fact that you have a beautiful day planned and the happiness you will feel when you get to marry the person you love will be enough to make everything else insignificant.”

  2. "Begin planning as early as possible. Popular venues and vendors get booked up quickly, especially during peak wedding season from May to September. Create a detailed checklist and timeline to keep track of all tasks and deadlines."

  3. “I went into this trusting the vendors we hired to come up with the best solutions and I was glad we did. I knew you (Angelique) understood exactly what I wanted and this made the whole experience a lot less stressful.”

  4. "Once you've chosen your vendors, trust their expertise. They're familiar with the local scene and can provide valuable advice and services."

  5. "Weather can be unpredictable, especially in certain regions. Have a backup plan for outdoor events, like a tent or an indoor alternative."

  6. "Provide your guests with all the information they need well in advance. Create a wedding website with details about travel, accommodation, and the schedule of events."

  7. “Anything is possible. If you want to do it, just know that it is possible. I never thought I would find a Parisian-American to do my flowers for our day and finding Angelique was such a God send. Also, there's no wrong way to do it. Get married in whatever way and wherever you and your significant other want. Not for anyone else but what makes you both happy!”

  8. “Make sure you choose great vendors who you enjoy working with.”

  9. "Hiring a local wedding planner was the single most important decision we made. Their expertise, local knowledge, and connections made our dream wedding possible without the stress."

  10. “Listen to Angelique, she knows what she’s talking about”
